Thailand Visa Extension Guide
Everything you need to know about extending your Thailand tourist visa from 60 to 90 days
Thailand allows tourists to extend their 60-day tourist visa for an additional 30 days at the discretion of immigration officials. The process is straightforward but requires proper preparation.
The extension must be applied for before your current visa expires. It's recommended to apply 7-10 days before expiration to avoid any issues.
You must apply in person at an immigration office. The process typically takes a few hours, and the extension is usually granted on the same day.
- Your passport (with at least 6 months validity)
- Current tourist visa
- Completed TM.7 form (Application for Extension of Temporary Stay)
- Completed STM.2 form (Supporting Document for Visa Extension)
- 1,900 THB extension fee
- Recent passport-sized photo (4x6 cm)
- Proof of accommodation (optional but recommended)
- Copy of departure ticket (optional but recommended)
- TM.30 form receipt (Notification of Residence)
The TM.30 is a Notification Form for Housemaster, Owner, or the Possessor of the Residence Where an Alien Has Stayed. This form must be completed within 24 hours of your arrival by the owners of the lodging where you are staying. There is a fine if it is not submitted promptly.
Your hotel or Airbnb should provide proof of this to you. If for some reason you don't trust that your host has completed it, you can submit it yourself at the local immigration office.
Important Note
Some immigration offices may not strictly enforce the TM.30 requirement for tourist visa extensions, but it's always better to have it if possible. Requirements can vary by location and may change without notice.
